The Year of Saint Joseph in the Catholic Church which began on the Solemnity of the Immaculate conception in December 2020 is being concluded this month.

In the Diocese of Sokoto, the climax of the ceremony was the Eucharistic celebration at the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral, Sokoto with the Bishop of the Diocese, Most Reverend Matthew Hassan Kukah as Chief celebrant.

In the homily, the Parish Priest of the Holy Trinity Parish Kamba, Kebbi state, Fr. Joseph Ekwoanya traced the origin and life of St. Joseph who he said was a silent figure in the Bible.

Fr. Ekwoanya said the institution of the family is under attack with unnatural practices of homosexuality and same same-sex relationship.

He further lamented that the Church too is under attack from all quarters as predicted in the 1917 apparitions of Mary the mother of Jesus Christ.

The close of the year of St. Joseph on the Solemnity of the Immaculate conception of Mary in 2021concludes the circle.
