30TH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME (HARVEST SUNDAY) AT OUR LADY OF PERPETUAL HELP PARISH SOKOTO. 25th October, 2026

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time

The celebration of the Holy Mass for 6am and 9am masses a. with a procession led by Rev. Fr.Jude okpanchi , Rev. Fr Camillus O. Augustine, alongside the catechist, lay readers, and altar knights. The celebration continued with the singing of the Kyrie and Gloria, followed by the Liturgy of the Word appropriate for the 30th Sunday in ordinary time. The Gospel was proclaimed by Rev. Fr Camillus O. Augustine, from the Gospel according to John Theme: BE RICH IN GOD, NOT JUST IN POSSESSIONS πŸ“– First Reading: β€œThe threshing floors shall be full of grain.” ✝️ Gospel: β€œA man's life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions.” Beloved in Christ, God desires to bless us abundantly. He wants our lives to bear fruit, our efforts to prosper, and our needs to be met. The promise that β€œthe threshing floors shall be full of grain” reminds us of God's provision and the blessings He can bring into our lives. However, in today's Gospel, Jesus gives us a powerful warning: our lives are worth far more than the things we possess. Many people spend their entire lives pursuing money, property, fame, and success, believing that these things will bring lasting happiness. Yet, we can have everything the world offers and still lack peace, love, and a meaningful relationship with God. Jesus teaches us that true wealth is not measured by the size of our bank accounts, the cars we drive, or the houses we own. True wealth is found in a heart that loves God, serves others, forgives freely, and lives according to His Word. The real question is not, β€œHow much do I have?” but β€œHow rich am I in the things of God?” Let us work diligently, receive God's blessings with gratitude, and use what we have to help those in need. Never allow the pursuit of material wealth to take the place of God in your heart. Remember, possessions may make life comfortable, but only God gives life its true meaning. Let us therefore store up treasures in heaven, where neither time nor earthly circumstances can destroy them. The Liturgy of the Eucharist followed, culminating in the consecration of the Holy Eucharist. The faithful received Holy Communion with deep reverence and devotion. The Mass concluded at 12:32p.m. with the final blessings imparted by Rev. Fr Camillus O.
