Vocations

Is God calling you?

The word vocation comes from the Latin for “call”. All are called to know, love and serve God — some are called to serve the Church as priests or in consecrated life.

Priestly vocations

The priesthood is a gift to the Church that comes from Christ himself. As Catholics we are all called to holiness, but some are called to serve the Church as priests. Ask whether God might be calling you to show your love for Christ by a commitment to him as a priest of his Church.

Consecrated life

Consecrated men and women take public vows of poverty, chastity and obedience, dedicating themselves to God for the service of the Church and the salvation of the world. The best-known form is religious life, lived in community and sharing a common apostolate.

Marriage and the lay vocation

Many are called to marriage, living out the call to love that God asks of each of us — in the family, the parish and society.

Formation today

38 seminarians are in formation across six Nigerian seminaries for the Diocese of Sokoto.
