The Christian Association of Nigeria, an umbrella for all Christian denominations in Sokoto, North West Nigeria have begun jingling the Christmas bells with an organized Carol, Tagged Unity Christmas Carol, the great evening coincided with the First Sunday of Advent. All Christian denominations in Sokoto making up the State chapter converged at St Paul’s Anglican Church for the carol.Choir and choral groups from the five blocks that constitute the Christian Association of Nigeriacame with varieties of songs for the Yuletide.
TheCatholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev Dr Mathew H. Kukah in the company of some Catholic Priests, joined other the leaders of other blocks in the Association to participate in the carol.
In his speech, the Chairman of CAN Sokoto Chapter, Rev Fr Nuhu Iliya expressed satisfaction at the turnout of Christians towards the activities of CAN in the State especially carol. He equally thanked all the bloc leaders for their support towards unity in the body of Christ (Church).
Aside special renditions by choirs and other guests’ present, congregational prayers were offered specifically for Nigeria and her leaders.
