It was a day of Celebration yesterday 15th August, 2019 as the catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah ordained five deacons to join the order of the presbytery

In his homily, the bishop said "We gather together today again with gratitude for the blessings of God our Father as we mark the celebration of the ordination of five of our brothers as they join us in the Lord’s vineyard. For our Diocese, this is a rich harvest indeed. Therefore, on behalf of my brother Priests, the Religious and Catechists, all of us who have arrived the vineyard at various hours in answer to this holy call, I extend our prayerful gratitude to you all. We never take your generosity, love, support and co-operation for granted.

He added that the choice of a priest is of God not men, for being worthy does not imply perfection. The occasion which was held at the Holy Family Catholic Cathedral was attended by Priests, Religious and a host of Catholics from across Kaduna, Maduguri, Minna, Otukpo, Kontangora dioceses respectively. Also a special farewell was given to MaryJoe one of the formators of seminarians that worked in the archdiocese of Kaduna who is expected to retire back to Santiago
