Ohaneze Ndigbo, pays a courtesy visit to Bishop Kukah.

The Igbo socio-cultural group (Ohaneze Ndigbo) paid a courtesy visit to the Catholic Bishop of Sokoto in his office- St. Bakhita Catholic Secretariat today.

Chief Dr. John Nnia Nwodo, the President General of the Ohaneze Ndigbo said that the visit was to express their resolve for Peace and unity in Nigeria.

The Igbo socio-cultural group who went in numbers expressed their belief in the unity of the country.

The President of the group appreciated the effort of the Bishop in maintaining peace and unity of the Country.

He also commended Bishop Kukah for leading above sentiments and religious boundaries in preaching and loving the Country.

The socio-cultural group maintained that the Bishop's advocacy stands as a pillar of hope for Igbos living in the North-Western region and in Nigeria as a whole.

 

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, His Lordship, Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah acknowledged the visit of the Ohaneze Ndigbo to be very significant as it coincides with the feast celebration of his patron Saint "St. Matthew".

The Bishop maintained that the task of keeping this country depends on everybody and charged them to always preach the peace and unity of the country.

Bishop Kukah expressed his desire " I desire to see a Nigeria where there will be a policy that can incorporate everybody in its politics irrespective of the religious or ethnic differences, but on the basis of been a Nigerian".
