The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto on the 11th January, 2019 laid to rest Very Rev. Fr. Basil Chukwuemeka Okezie who died over the 30th December, 2018.
Ordained priest for the Catholic Diocese of Sokoto in 1988 by the now Bishop Emeritus Kevin Aje, Fr. Basil Okezie died in his sleep at the age of 60.
Until his death he was the Parish Priest of St. Theresa's Parish, Funtua, Katsina State.
His remains were interred in the priests' burial site at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Gusau, Zamfara State.
The Bishop of Sokoto Most Rev. Matthew Hassan Kukah led other priests and lay faithful in the requiem Mass.
Fr. Basil Okezie was ordained in 1988 along side - Frs Joseph Dube, Vitalis Opara and Late Fr. Joseph Mary Ike.
