The Catholic Diocese of Sokoto, Most Rev Dr. Bishop Matthew Kukah today dedicated the Chapel of Adoration in St. Patrick Catholic Church, Illela.
The chapel was built by the Parish Catholic Women Organization (CWO).
The ceremony began with a welcoming party/reception for the Bishop on Saturday evening. The Catholic youths thereafter ushered him in with drumming and dance.
The Catholic Women Organization did a march past. The Holy Child Association also rendered colourful rendition and displayed a cultural dance.
Presiding over the ceremony, Bishop Kukah commended the giant strides embarked upon by the CWO under the leadership of Mrs. Felicia Okonkwo and urged other Parishes to emulate St. Patrick's CWO by taking up projects in the church.
Bishop Kukah, in his homily charged the faithful to imbibe the virtue of genuine love while stressing that hatred should not even exist at all.
“Do not have hate in your heart for your brother or neighbor. Love your neighbor as yourself, do not take revenge.” He said.
Lauding the CWO President, Bishop Kukah conferred on her, an award of ‘Spiritual Excellence’.
In his vote of thanks, the Parish Priest, Rev. Fr. Casmir Obi expressed his gratitude to Bishop Kukah for his visit and support.
