Suffering is not a punishment but an act that has the seeds of redemption - Bishop Kukah

The Catholic Bishop of Sokoto Diocese, Most Rev Dr. Matthew Kukah today celebrates ash Wednesday Mass with Staff, Students and Pupils of Holy Family Schools. Today marks the first Mass with Bishop Kukah since the inception of the school in 1995.

In his homily, talking about Lent as the Fast before the Feast, Bishop Kukah said "The Church has set aside this period for Christians to understand that for all believers in Jesus, suffering is not a punishment but an act that has the seeds of redemption. The destination of the journey of Lent is Easter."

Bishop Kukah encouraged the Teachers, Students and Pupils to see suffering not as a punishment from God but rather accept the will of God as Christ did.

He urged the children to pray for their Parents, Teachers and Country.
