A THREE DAY WORKSHOP ON STRATEGIC PLAN AND DEVELOPMENT

Justice, Development and Peace Commission (JDPC) Sokoto diocese in collaboration with Catholic Relief Service (CRS) Nigeria held a three day workshop from the 29th-31 August 2019 on Strategic Plan Development held at St Bakhita Secretariat Sokoto.

In a statement Rev. Fr. Lawrence C. Emehel the director of the commission, said participants have come from across the four states within the diocese of sokoto to brainstorm and draw a line of action to be use for the next five years.

Speaking at the closing of the workshop the bishop of the diocese most Rev. Dr Matthew Hassan Kukah expressed his happiness as delegates invested their time and commitment into learning and gaining experience which others may see as insignificant. He said

“Our country is where it is because nobody wants to learn anything; people want to occupy office... Whatever skill you acquire it’s important so it’s on this note that I want to say thank you. There’re a lot of opportunities it’s not about employment but about doing things we think we can help improve the quality of society”.

My hope is that as we are rounding up with facility at the (pastoral center) we will have no excuses. The facility will always be there and it doesn’t have to be JDPC it can be you or whatever people feel very strongly that can bring a few experts to help improve our understanding, I will be more than happy to be of help’’.

Bishop Kukah further added that the bishops conference in line with the church and society have resolved to give more attention to Catholics who are in public life.

A participant at the workshop also thanked the facilitator Mr. Anselem Nwoke and the director of JDPC Rev. Fr. Lawrence E. Emehel for providing them with such opportunity and beckoned on others present to improve on what has been learnt over the past days.
