The Bishop of Sokoto Diocese Most Rev. Dr. Matthew Hassan Kukah on the 1st December, 2018 commission 38 Catechists, 19 Lectors and Confirms 28 at the Catechetical Training Centre (CTC) Malumfashi. The Homeliest Rev Fr Cornelius Tagwai emphasis on the important role the catechist plays in the church as such, Priest and members should always see them as an important person and accord them the necessary respect they deserve. Now this new commissioned catechist will be posted to different parish to minister and proclaim the good news they all need our prayer and cooperation. 
The catechist are irreplaceable pastoral agent who assist the priest in the work of evangelization. He quote the words of Pope John Paul II about the catechist saying "My beloved catechist the church needs you, she continues to need you even in the future. No matter how many priest or religious the church may have you remain irreplaceable. You educate your fellow lay men and women, you give them an idea of the of the Church, you show them that commitment to the Faith and sacrifices needed to strengthen it are possible for lay people and not only for cleric and the religious. He further said I am happy to know that your dioceses have programs for your in service training such as yearly seminars, deeper and longer formation causes, and he said I thank you for your cooperation and he said catechist of Nigeria the Pope loves you and I will always count on your help in the work of evangelization" finally he also congratulate the lectors that are to be commissioned and the candidate for confirmation.
